Rock The Earth has awarded Bonnie Raitt with the 2010 Planet Defender Award. Rock The Earth is a non profit organization that “is committed to protecting and defending America’s natural resources through partnerships with the music industry and the world-wide environmental community.”
In 1979, Bonnie founded MUSE, Muisicians United for Safe Energy, which developed the concerts, album and movie No Nukes. Bonnie’s Bon Taj Collective Action Fund awarded Rock The Earth with a fundraising grant for their efforts in environmental protection. ( Read More…)

Bonnie Raitt is doing her part to help Haitian earthquake victims.
The award-winning performer has joined efforts with Ben Harper, Joan Baez, Jackson Brown and Ry Cooder to raffle off a Fender Squire Strat “Affinity Series” to benefit Operation USA’s efforts in Haiti.
At the hefty cost of $100 per ticket, monies raised will allow Operation USA to bring portable electric generators, water bladders, water purification tablets, hospital supplies and medications to Haiti.

Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal are finishing up their co-headlining trek, “BonTaj Roulet Tour.” The 30-date outing kicked off August 6th and will end later in September, with a string of tours on the West Coast.
Throughout the tour, Raitt and Mahal take the stage separately, and then close the show with a joint set.
Both of the blues artists are traveling behind iconic albums – Raitt released “Souls Alike” in 2005 and Mahal released “Maestro” in 2008, which included Los Lobos, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper.

Bonnie Raitt will be heading out on tour later this summer with fellow bluesman Taj Mahal. The cleverly named “BonTaj Roulet Tour” will kick off in August 2009 and run through the end of September ‘09. Then Bonnie will continue touring on her own until the end of October.
Raitt will be with her band, while Taj Mahal will have his Phantom Blues Band to back him up. The plan is for Raitt to perform a full set, Taj to do a full set, and then the two will come together for a closing set. All told, fans can expect a full night of music from two legendary blues artists.
